The album hits streaming services on April 3.
Fresh off his appearance on Kenny Beats’ The Cave series, Thundercat has shared his latest single. “Dragonball Durag” is the second offering from the upcoming It Is What It Is album. The track was co-produced by Kamasi Washington, Flying Lotus, and Dennis Hamm.
The album features guest contributions from names like Lil B, Zack Fox, and Ty Dolla $ign. The first single, “Black Qualls,” features Steve Lacy and Steve Arrington. The final version will feature Childish Gambino. It Is What It Is will be his first studio album since 2017’s Drunk.
“This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that,” he said previously in a press release. “It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life, you come across places that you don’t necessarily understand… some things just aren’t meant to be understood.”
Thundercat’s North American tour resumes on February 28th in Vancouver, British Columbia at the Vogue Theatre. The tour hits New York City on March 24th at Webster Hall.
