“Everyone always wanted to talk about the comparisons between him and I,” he said through tears. “I just wanted to talk about Kobe.”
On a lighter note, Jordan gave one of the most well-received lines of the afternoon, referencing the infamous crying meme from his Hall of Fame speech from 2009. Okayplayer recently named Crying Michael Jordan the number-one meme that defined the decade.
“Now he’s got me,” Jordan said mournfully. “I’m going to have to look at another crying meme. I told my wife I wasn’t going to do this because I didn’t want to see it for the next three, four years. That is what Kobe Bryant does to me.”
Bryant and Jordan’s careers overlapped for a total of four years in the league together. The two most notably squared off in Jordan’s last All-Star Game in 2002.
